The molecular mechanism of light signal transduction is one of the most important questions in plant biology. Using Arabidopsis thaliana as a model, our lab is aiming to dissect the molecular mechanism of blue light and UV-B light signal transduction. Since 2011, the lab has made the following achievements: 1. Identify several novel UV-B signaling pathways. They show that the UV-B photoreceptor UVR8 directly interacts with transcription factors to regulate gene expression in response to UV-B. 2. Elucidate how blue light and temperature are integrated in plants. They find that CRY1 is critical for temperature responses. 3. Systematically study the CRY2-CIBs photoperiodic flowering pathway. Those results are published in leading journals, including Developmental Cell (2018), Nature Plants (2018), Nature Structure & Molecular Biology (2020), EMBO Journal (2020), PNAS (2013 and 2016), Plant Cell (2016, 2020 a,b) etc. These discoveries have been highlighted or commented in Preview, News & Views or Faculty 1000.
